Accessibility

Overview

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law on July 26, 1990. Title II of the ADA requires that public entities make their programs accessible to people with disabilities, not necessarily each facility or part of a facility.

Notice of Accommodations
ISD 279 does not discriminate on the basis of disability for admission to its programs, services, or in its employment practices. This notice is provided as required by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.

No qualified individual with a disability will, on the basis of disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of our services, programs, or activities, or be subjected to discrimination. We will administer services, programs, and activities in the most integrated setting appropriate to the needs of qualified individuals with disabilities.

Questions, complaints or requests for additional information may be forwarded to the designated ADA Coordinator listed below. To request accommodations please contact the school or program coordinator. Requests for accommodation should be submitted at least 72-hours in advance.

Communications
Written documents will be made available in alternative formats to accommodate individuals with visual impairments. School communications should include the following notice:

"Upon request, this document can be made available in an alterative format, such as Braille, large print, or audio tape to accommodate individuals with disabilities. To make such a request, please contact us at least seventy two (72) hours in advance.”

Auxiliary aids and services such as assistive listening devices and sign language interpreters will be made available for conferences, meetings and programs upon request. Event announcements should include the following notice:

“ Independent School District 279 does not discriminate on the basis of disability. If you need auxiliary aids or services in order to participate in or attend a district activity, please contact us at least seventy two (72) hours in advance.”
