On June 5th the Minnesota Vikings will arrive at Crest View at approximately 12:50 p.m. to help build the playground and work with the children.

Today, June 5th, the outdoor play space at Crest View Elementary will be literally transformed as volunteers from the Minnesota Vikings, The Toro Company, and our local school and civic communities all join together to build a new playground. The playground is the result of a spectacular financial and volunteer collaboration by the Vikings, Toro, KaBoom! (a non-profit organization that builds playgrounds across the nation), community partners, and our school district. Principal Suzette Erickson has overseen the mammoth planning effort, and will help cut the ribbon to the new playground when it’s completed this afternoon. Due to such high-visibility partners, we expect significant media interest in the story. The most important outcome, of course, is that the playground will provide a healthy play environment for the children in our community for years to come.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As you may know, we have been working very hard this year to raise money to purchase new playground equipment for our students.

Today, during an all school assembly, we shared some amazing news with our students. Crest View Elementary has been selected by the Vikings organization and the Toro Corporation to receive $60,000 in new playground equipment!

Coach Brad Childress, Vikings team members, Vikings executives, Toro employees, and organizers from KaBOOM! (a national nonprofit organization that envisions great playgrounds within walking distance of every child in America) will help install the playground next June. Not only will our students receive a new playground, but they will also have the opportunity to interact with Vikings football players and caring members of the Twin Cities community.

We are so excited that we have been selected to receive such a wonderful gift for our students. Our dream of a new playground for Crest View children is finally coming true!

I hope you will share in our excitement. I’ll keep you informed as more details become available.

Respectfully,

Suzette Erickson
Principal
