bus serv teamFollowing last spring’s award announcement, Kelly A. Benusa, director of business services for ISD 279 - Osseo Area Schools, was recently honored by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) with a 2015 Pinnacle of Achievement Award for her work in developing a long-range financial planning framework that ensures resources are aligned with the district’s strategic priorities.

Only three of these awards are given nationwide to school business officials each year.

Superintendent Kate Maguire said, “Kelly helped create a budget planning process that increases financial stability, aligns the budget with priority work, improves accountability, and increases transparency. Modeling our organization's core values, she led an inclusive and collaborative advisory group that studied best practices and created tools that fit our district’s needs. The result is a budget planning process that now serves as a national model.”

While at ASBO's national conference, Benusa, Cindy Brown, Mike Hueller, and Patricia Magnuson delivered a session titled “Building Community and School Board Trust: Creating a Transparent, Collaborative, Data-Driven Community Process for Long-Range Financial Planning” that was well-received by conference participants from around the country.

Benusa is among nearly 10 Osseo Area Schools employees who have been recognized over the past three years with the highest awards possible from their state or national professional associations.
