Tip Line to Enhance School Safety

Tip Line

Help us STOP school violence before it starts! Call 763-391-8660.

In accordance with the ISD 279s’ ongoing effort to maintain a safe and drug-free learning environment for students, ISD 279 is initiating a Tip Line (#763-391-8660) for the coming 2007-08 school year. The purpose of the Tip Line is to provide students and parents with a simple and anonymous way to report unsafe situations.

The new Tip Line makes it possible for students and parents to report weapons, threats of violence, bullying, gangs, sexual harassment, threat of suicide, drugs and any other activity that could potentially endanger students, staff and property. Of course, students can always share any concerns they might have with school staff. The Tip Line is one more option students and parents have to help keep schools safe and it’s completely confidential.

ISD 279 will provide all schools with bookmarks with the Tip Line phone number to make access as convenient and readily available as possible. These reminders along with posters will be placed in libraries, at the front desk and other visible locations within the building. In addition, Public Service Announcements (PSA’s) have been developed to make students and parents aware of the Tip Line. Three PSA’s have been produced – one for upper elementary students, one for secondary students and one for parents. The student PSA will be shown in classrooms and the parent PSA will appear on ISD 279 cable channel 21 and ISD 279 Web site.

ISD 279 is the fifth largest school district in the State with enrollment of 22,000 students. ISD 279 serves all or parts of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, Dayton, Hassan, Maple Grove, Osseo, and Plymouth.
