Youth Opportunities
Catch the Energy of Learning! Youth programs provide unique and exciting opportunities for youth to pursue their interests, expand their abilities and improve their social skills in an informal setting. Programs are offered after school, Saturdays and during the summer. Watch your child's Wednesday, take-home folder for opportunities and your mail for seasonal catalogs. District 279 Tutoring Program’s mission is to help students increase their understanding of the core subject areas, build their social skills, improve their study habits and excel through innovative teaching and learning. The Tutoring Program works in coordination with the school district’s curriculum department and with each child’s teacher so that the tutoring offered supports the current academic needs of your child.

Rockets, Robots and Computers – Oh My! Beading, Cooking, and Hobbies – Oh My! Crafts, Art and Music – Oh My! Mini-Camps offer you the most fun you can have under the sun! Hands-on, active learning and social development are the backbone of these activities!

Calling all current 7 th, 8 th and 9 th graders! Don’t waste your summer sitting by the phone, surfing the web or checking the refrigerator. Expand Your Mind and get into the Teen Zone! Last summer over 350 of your friends learned how to weld, created digital graphics, performed hip hop with style, experienced physics in action at Valleyfair and did so much more.
