Special Education Parent
Advisory Council
Purpose:
School districts are required under state and federal law to have Special Education Parent Advisory Councils to increase the involvement of parents of children with disabilities. The goal of this Council is to provide a positive, informal environment to facilitate the involvement of parents of children receiving special education in district policy and decision-making.
Function:
- To advise ISD 279 on policy and decisions affecting and/or related to special education.
- To provide parent involvement in the program improvement process.
- To recommend priorities to be addressed by ISD 279 in their annual and long-term strategic plan.
- To serve as a sounding board for parent and professional concerns related to special education.

Meeting Dates & Times:
The next SEPAC meeting is April 3, 2012, at the Education Service Center from 6:00pm - 7:30 pm.
Who can join?
Any parent or guardian of a child with disabilities can be a member.
ISD 279 staff, including administrators, teachers, support staff
and paraprofessionals are also encouraged to participate.
