Adult Diploma Program
The state adult high school diploma is competency-based,diploma, completed through participation in an approved Minnesota Adult Basic Education program, and recognized by the state through a diploma awarded by Minnesota Department of Education.
Eligibility
- Not enrolled in K-12 services
- Must be 19 or older
- Meet state required reading test score
- Must maintain 75% attendance

- Mathematics
- Career Development and Employability Skills, including Digital Literacy Skills
- Social Studies
- Science
Teachers will evaluate students’ work in the Adult Diploma Program to ensure completion of necessary competencies. Adult diploma students may successfully complete each competency through one of the following ways:
- Prior Experience-Based Competency Verification (K-12, or postsecondary transcripts, work or other exoeriences
- Test-Verified Knowledge (approved standardized assessment for high schools, secondary credentials, ABE programs and/or postsecondary entrance exams)
- ABE Course Demonstration (classes that combine academic, college and career content, like special adult diploma classes, GED preparation, Accuplacer classes, college readiness classes, subject-specific classes, FastTRAC programming, etc.)
- Applied and Experiential Learning (through an approved project, like the National External Diploma Program.)
