The purpose of the Risk and Emergency Management Advisory Committee (REMAC) is to continuously improve and support the execution of the district’s Risk and Emergency Management Plan* in order to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment in Osseo Area Schools.
- Risk Emergency Management Plan – formal and informal practices, policies, and procedures related to risk and emergency management that contribute to a district culture focused on safety and security
The Risk and Emergency Management Advisory Committee meets approximately five to seven times per year to review and recommend updates to the district’s formal and informal practices, policies, and procedures that promote safe and healthy learning environments for students, staff, and community.
The Risk and Emergency Management Advisory Committee consists of district-level staff, school-level staff, and community partners, such as parents/guardians, police officers and fire department representatives.
Each fall, staff leaders seek new members to join the committee. Desired qualifications/attributes of members include:
- A high interest in school safety and ensuring a healthy environment for students and staff.
- A collaborative and positive attitude to work with other committee members who bring diverse perspectives.
- The ability to attend five to seven two-hour meetings per year. Meetings are held either at the district Educational Service Center or at a school, generally in the mid-late afternoon on Wednesdays.
