Osseo Area Schools is searching for a new superintendent to succeed Dr. Kate Maguire, who will retire effective June 30, 2018.

Contracts for the interim superintendent team of Dr. Kim Riesgraf and Dr. Jim Bauck were approved by the school board.
In a special meeting on May 8, the Osseo School Board launched its interim superintendent leadership plan for next year.
The board authorized hiring two veteran educators who will serve in the position of interim superintendent during the 2018-2019 school year:
- Dr. Kim Riesgraf will serve from July 1 through September 30, 2018
- Dr. Jim Bauck will serve from October 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019
Riesgraf and Bauck form a highly qualified team with nearly 70 years of education experience between them.
There will be planned overlap and transition time with Superintendent Kate Maguire before she retires in late June. Riesgraf and Bauck will also overlap duties in late summer/early fall for back-to-school events.
Pending successful negotiations, both interim contracts will be approved by the board at the May 15 regular meeting.
April 11, 2018: Board to pursue interim superintendent
At a special meeting on April 11, the Osseo School Board chose to pursue hiring an interim superintendent, having been unable to reach a strong level of support for any of the finalists that had been interviewed.
Board members approved a motion to halt any future search activity by the search firm, Ray and Associates, pending further direction, and to authorize the board chair and vice chair to work with the executive director of human resources on behalf of the board to identify candidates for consideration as interim superintendent.
April 10, 2018: Board to take more time to review feedback
After interviewing the two finalists and hearing their public presentations on Tuesday, April 10, the Osseo School Board determined that it needed more time to review the feedback it has received about the finalists. Therefore, the board will meet again Wednesday, April 11, to work toward a decision on the next leader for the school district. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
The April 11 meeting is open to the public and will begin at 6 pm in the Board Room of the Educational Service Center, 11200 93rd Avenue North, Maple Grove.
April 6, 2018: Finalist withdraws; interviews scheduled for remaining two finalists, as follows:
April 10 interview/presentation schedule (all are open to the public and will be webstreamed, live cablecast, and archived on the district website)
- 12:30 p.m.: School board interview of Dr. Erick Pruitt
- 2:30 p.m.: School board interview of Mr. James Harris
- 7:00 p.m.: Public presentation by Dr. Erick Pruitt, followed by moderated Q&A session
- 8:00 p.m.: Public presentation by Mr. James Harris, followed by moderated Q&A session
After each interview and each presentation, audience members will have an opportunity to provide written feedback.
All interviews and the public presentations are open to the public and will be held in the Board Room of the Educational Service Center, 11200 93rd Avenue North, Maple Grove.
April 3, 2018: Three finalists advance to final-round interviews.
March 19, 2018: Six finalists named for first-round interviews.
